The launch of ‘The Butcher’s Feast’

If there’s one thing Italians are known for, it’s generosity with food – tables brimming with beautiful produce and wine, alongside great company. Sounds like a night out at Gemelle, right?

Introducing ‘The Butcher’s Feast’ – an extravagant shared banquet that will satisfy even the most enthusiastic of appetites.

After a glass of Bellussi Prosecco DOCG, the feast starts with shared antipasto platters consisting of freshly baked toasted focaccia with balsamic and olive oil, zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta, pesto and semi dried tomatoes, crumbed mozzarella with talegio fondue, salt and pepper calamari, BBQ king prawns, arancini, stuffed green olives with goat’s cheese, sliced prosciutto and fresh buffalo mozzarella – all accompanied by a glass of Livio Fellugia Pinot Grigio DOC from Friuli, Italy.

However the main event is the shared platters overflowing with delectable cuts of meat sourced from local, free range farms: chargrilled marinated Black Angus T-bone steak; 900g Cape Grim tomahawk steak; crispy skin pork belly; chargrilled whole spatchcock; pan seared pork fillet infused with sage butter; slow cooked lamb shoulder, and juicy lamb rump. Generous sides including rocket and truffle pecorino salad, and sweet potato and pumpkin roasted in olive oil and garlic, plus flavoursome condiments make it a true feast. Farnese Edizione Cinque Autoctoni Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Primitivo, Negro Amaro Red Malvisia from Abruzzo, Italy (99 points, Luca Maroni rating) is the perfect accompaniment to this course.

A dessert of a light and delicate homemade apple tart with vanilla bean cream, ice cream and mixed berry jam, along with a glass of Italian dessert wine Passito Pantalleria, is the ideal sweet relief for the palate. Exclusive to the chef’s table with a maximum of ten people, the feast is held in a private room that enjoys a view of Gemelle’s vast open kitchen, or can be closed off for complete seclusion.
